Carb appears to be much later model
Engine looks like an early one with points distributor
Oil pressure wiring appears to have been altered -- at least new terminal.
The "thing" in the top right should be a TVS thermal valve switch to move from port to manifold with engine temp change.
The choke tube inlet in manifold appears to be blocked, electric choke added -- the linkage to the vacuum pull off is missing
Engine access not really clear from angle of photo -- seems similar to GMC.
No hot water preheat function.
Take lots of time cleaning all that stuff off the manifold or it may end up in the valley.

the vacuum pull off on the carb is supposed to hold the secondaries shut under high vacuum.
an interesting question is what carb did Revcon use and how different is it for ours? how does the Revcon run compared to the GMC? gas mileage?

Dave,
Looking at the full pic of the motor I see first you probably upset a family of squirrels when you fired up the motor-- not unusual. You might want to check to make sure they have not chewed on your vacuum or fuel hoses.
Next I see it is still running the older point dist., I would strongly suggest installing an HEI unit. A much stronger spark, noticable.
Here is a big one, something I see in probably 1/2 the coaches I pull the cover on, you vacuum to your dist. is not right. Under load your motor would need another 10 deg. of timing the way it is connected. Loose that "vacuum tree" and run ported vacuum from the carb directly to the vacuum on the dist. Off idle, this will give the motor the @10 deg. of vacuum it wants. This is the difference in a peppy, fuel efficieny motor and a fuel sucking pig.

So you're saying that the vac. augments the centrifigal advance?
I got 9.9 MPG on one 200 mile drive. That has been the only assesment of mileage.
I googled the carb number and found a single refernce to it in a forum, it apprently came off a chevy.
No telling if revcon used it or some PO swapped it out.

In addition, the Thermac has been disconnected and the vac connection
blocked.

No, I'm hollaring now becuse i have no idea what is what. Initially i took the picutes so I could see how everything goes back together but then i saw all these mystery parts, i figured ya'll could provide some insight.
And I know some of you are secretly curious about the Revcon.
There will be another set of pictures when the top of the engine is off.

One question I would have is, would going with a Petronics (sp) rather than an HEI going to yield the same effects? Performance, milage, etc.
Dennis, off topic question for you. I may be going through your area soon. I ate at Interstate BBQ, can you suggest some other really good places for some Q? If this happens, we could always meet up for some chow.
I have a 73, like Dave's. Driving back from SOCAL to Philly, I got varied milage. My first tank was the worst, drove fast and lots of big hills. I got 6 mpg on that tank. Later I got 11.9 mpg but I had to cruise slow, 55 to 60 mph. Kinda painful but the milage is nice.
I'll try to post some photos for you to take a gander at. I think Dave is right, you guys just might be closet Revcon owners. ;^D (note the wink)

Nice looking coach.
Going to a Pertronix would be an easier change -- the air filter would fit without modification required by the HEI. Neither Pertronix nor HEI will likely improve fuel economy.
BBQ recommendation -- Corky's on Poplar just off I-240. Not great parking so if you are in the Revcon plan to walk a short distance. http://www.corkysmemphis.com/

Thanks for posting the photos. If it is unrestored it is in amazing
condition, if it is restored the workmanship is very good.
As far as the exterior looks goes all that matters is that you like it!
Why should you care what a bunch of old farts that have GMC's think, eh! ;-)

Morning Folks,
Sorry for stealing your thread Dave. Thanks for the tip Dennis, I'll give them a shot.
I am the third owner of this coach, it's been in CA it's while life (supposedly). The last owner did some restoration to it, new paint, carpets, reupholstery, the dash/gauges are new as well. The radiator was pulled and a 4 core aluminum one was put in, in it's place. Lots more little things but it was well cared for, which is half the battle.
It still needs a fair amount of work to get it to 110% but nothing that's insurmountable. It runs good, and if I wanted, I wouldn't need to do a thing to use it.
To each his own, I say. I'll admit, I like the GMC, it's just not as practical for me. I'm not a big fan of fiberglass either, too much maintenance. I also prefer the floor plan to the GMCs. For me, I like it's "uniqueness" and retro look. But, most importantly, it's a lot cheaper overall. A lot.
