When I get gas for my 76 PB, the station nozzle keeps shutting off. It takes a lot of retries to get it full, and then I'm never sure if it's really full, which makes mpg calculations problematic, which is really the problem I want to fix.
Any help?
Thanks

I think there have been a lot of previous posts about the slow filling and gas 'burping' back through the filler. Most seem to suggest that you need to check the venting hoses as there can be a blockage or narrowing that is not allowing the air in the tanks to escape as the gasoline is being introduced.

Whenever I fill, I have a small piece of wood with steps in it to put in the pump handle, I let it fill VERY SLOW and wash windows, etc., it works out very well. If I try to fill too fast, it's OK until the tanks start to get full and then I get burping and splash back galore.

As a temporary help, try lowering only the door side of the coach with the air bag system when you fill with gas. That helped on mine when I had it. Real solution is, as pointed out, probably a re-do of the gas tank venting system hoses so they vent properly.

you cannot fill with the handle on full. even with good vents it may not work. fill slowly. when it clicks off you can hear the gurgling as the air tries to escape.
