Hello to Everybody,
I would like to introduce the newest members of the GMC family, Desmond,
Laura and Zoe Thorsson. They will be joining the festivities at the Western
States Rally tomorrow. They live on Treasure Island in the middle of San
Francisco Bay, making the General one of few coaches to reside on an
island. Desmond is full of excitement and questions and is absorbing the
GMC culture like a sponge. Please make them feel as welcome as I have
always felt.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to the GMClist. Your informative and
sometimes humorous discussions were very helpful to showing Desmond the
value and adventure of being part of this great group. The website I setup
at https://sites.google.com/site/motorhomegmc/ and announced on this list
and on Craigslist brought 565 people to view the General's sales ad.
I am on the Blacklist and plan to stay, as long as alumni are allowed. The
list and the great wealth of information here have served me well and saved
my bacon more than once.
Mike Frothinger,
formerly the General's driver

I think this is about the only group in existence that stays in touch with a buyer when selling an old vehicle.

Well, I talked with Desmond last night. He called me to tell me of other coaches he had looked at with the good, the bad, and the ugly...believe me there is plenty of that. The point is that this community like only one other motorhome community I know of has a unique camaraderie that is priceless. I can't think of anything more scary than owing a 35 year old complicated piece of rolling equipment without the support of a group such as this. I think Desmond will be a welcome addition, even if he does live on an island.

Stick,
It isn't a bad Island. I lived there 60 years ago. Had a Marine guarded gate way. Free restaurant. Free medical facilities. Great view of the two cities and the bay. What else could you ask for.

Desmond,
The pictures are tariffic, looks like you guys had a great time. I am
really puzzled and embarassed though. What happened with the furnace? In
all the time we had the General, we had trouble only once. It has an
overload switch in the cabinet under the sink. Take a look and see if you
can find it. Otherwise call me while in the coach and I'll talk you to the
switch.
Mike
Judy was overjoyed with the photos of your family outing. Laura, Zoe and
your dog looked so happy.

What a great way to share a smile! Chrimany, I'm grinning from ear to ear. Just to see your beautiful bride and that amazing child IN A GMC!!! If I had bought ours 15 years ago when our daughter was that age we'd have so many more happy memories than we have (no complaints!) As your baby grows I'm sure you'll find that friends will come along for the fun. Although it's just my daughter and wife (and our dog Trevor) we have had many nights with 6 of us sleeping in the coach. My daughter travels with a posse!
Congratulations, and as for that rally - count me in! I look at your island every day from my office in the Embarcadero Center.
Oh, yes - beautiful coach too!

Desmond,
Every GMC club has a Wagon Master and if you have a place you feel is
ideal for a rally, do some research and talk to the Wagon Master. You
will find out what is needed to support a rally and some great tips on
how to put one together. Wagon Masters are easy to spot at club
meetings, they have this deer in the headlights look and are missing
clumps of hair.

Desmond,
Thank you so much for sharing the pictures. You have a great looking family and a nice looking coach. Looks like you made the right decision. Keep using it and having fun. One way to make sure you have an excuse to get out in it is to join a club. We really enjoy the regular rallies as well as private trips.
