Hi Griff

What is your location?

Here is a link with some information.
http://gmcmotorhome.info/buygmc.html

Your best bet is to get in contact with a local GMC owner and have him go
with you when you check out potential purchases. If nobody on the list is
available you can check on the 'Black List' available here.
http://www.bdub.net/Black_List/

Good luck

I am between Raleigh and Rocky Mount NC.

I will need to wait a bit to begin the shopping process as I am in a
neck brace from the wreck I mentioned (probably about 2-4 more weeks).
I was hoping to use my downtime at home to read more see more and get
some general knowledge of things like stress points where rust would be
an issue, any key safety areas like key component mounting points (front
suspension/steering and such)

As soon as I get out of the neck brace and can do the squatting bending
and flexing necessary to take a good look, I will try to hook up with a
local member and get a grand tour.

I will go ahead and take a look at the links suggested and see if I can
educate myself a bit more.

Thanks
Griff

Griff,

Welcome aboard.

There are a number of avid GMCers in NC, so you should be able to get some
good information and leads.

To start your research, I suggest www.gmcers.org. The links there will
eventually take you to all of the dozens of web sites dedicated to our
coach. You won't have time to absorb it all before you get the neck brace
off.

Grif, You could also drive down to the GMC Dixielander's Summer Rally in Dillard, GA, July 8 - 11. See lots of GMC's in various stages of life, and meet the great people that own them. Of course, I'm not sure who owns whom.
