My #2 son-in-law and I ran up and back from Atlanta to Berry College in
Rome, GA. It was British Car Day at the college. The round trip was
202 miles. The coach ran great. I've completed a total frontend
rebuild. Coach is nice and tight going down the highway. I had
repaired a loose ground for the A/C clutch last weekend so we gave the
A/C a workout. About 90 miles into the outbound leg the A/C started to
squeal. No problem figured I retighten before return leg.
Walked the car show. There were a couple of hundred cars. In a weaker
moment I gave my SIL one of my Healey's. He's working to restore the
3000.
Got back to the coach and worked on tightening the A/C belt. I have one
of those no-longer available belt tensioners. We cranked up the Onan
and fired up both A/C units. Here's an issue. The circuit breaker on
the Onan pops after a while. Any ideas?
Ride back was uneventful. A/C cranked cool air. The fan clutch would
kick in every now and then but the water temp stayed at 185. Is the
heat from the A/C causing the fan clutch to engage?
Changed the oil yesterday. Took a Blackstone sample and dropped a
Mondello magnet into the filter and added ZDDP. We're headed to
Charlotte for the NASCAR All Star Race this weekend. I'm looking
forward to the trip where the tools stay in the box. I know all the
work is paying off.

Steve,
I gotta tell ya! The front end is very tight. A real pleasure to drive. I would tell everyone, new :control arms both upper & lower, idler arm, relay link, tie rod ends, ball joints, hub bearings. Seems like a lot, and it is, but it's worth it. My steering wheel would go +/- 30 degrees when driving down the road. It was as if I were driving my boat thru white caps. Now it's rock solid. I showed my son-in-law at 75 I can take my hands off the steering wheel. Don't make that a habit!

Fred,
Sent out hubs & knuckles, if I had to do again I'd send them to Dave
Lenzi and get a grease fitting installed. Bought all remanufactured
front end parts from Jim K. All Steve F & Dave L parts.
I did all the work myself till it came time for the idler arm and relay
link. It was cold and wet and I had enough laying out in my driveway on
cardboard. I had Zeb Frady Buford, GA install the idler arm, relay link
and tie rod ends. Had Keisler Tire in Gainesville, GA do the alignment,
$ 85.
I don't keep track of costs, might stop if I knew how much it cost. But
a little over $2,500 I would guess.

George,
Good report on the trip and results of front end work.
Our coach wasn't that bad but you still had to constantly play with the
wheel. After replacing the relay link it handled like it should. I also go
Lenzi's adjustable linkage.
Berry should have been beautiful this time of year. Our daughter graduated
from Shorter two years ago. Couldn't afford Berry. Well, couldn't afford
Shorter without the academic scholarship.

For a breaker that trips when the load is constant the first thing I would check is the connections to the breaker to make sure they are clean and tight. I would also check with a clamp on ammeter to make sure the current draw did not exceed the rating of the breaker. If not and connections are good the breaker itself may be toast, see:

Mine (Kohler mind you) popped because the engine couldn't maintain horsepower necessary to keep the generator on speed with a load. Carb cleanup and rebuild and head tightening helped that.
