A number of guys brought up some interesting facts regarding "GMC's" listed on Craigslist.

Out of all the coach's listed (35 +/-), only about 14 were true TZE GMC's....Someone else brought up the condition of these "Bargins". The old adage applies here also..."you get what you pay for"!! Or the other one..."There's no such thing as a free lunch"!! Or etc., etc., etc...

If you want to a large number of a specific brand/model of coachs for sale, look up Monaco..Any model of Monaco. Check out Ebay, Craigslist, etc. Considering the number of those coach's built/sold there's a huge number of them available for resale. Also check out the prices of them new and what the current owners are trying to get for them now. - In addition to looking like a box with wheels, the depreciation eats the owners alive.

And by the way, how many of those 'luxury' coach's built today, or 10/15 years ago, will you see on the road in another 15/20 years??

I'll bet they don't have the support of things/people like the GMCnet, Applied GMC, Cooperative Motor Works, GMCMI, Cinnabar Engineering, and a whole host of other knowledgeable, willing to help, caring people.

Sorry, I just seems to get carried away once I start with these ramblings...which is why I don't respond to this stuff too often.

Anyway, there's almost always 15/20 GMC's (TZE's) for sale around the country one various sites/publications. The 'bargins' usually stay 'bargins' and usually just get 'cheaper'...The good ones usually are priced realistically and get sold rather quickly.

The only other coach that comes close to the GMC following is the Wanderlodge. Granted it's in another class but the owners are as close knit as GMC owners. 35 year old coaches are still on the road to-day because they support each other same as the GMC. Think GMC's are expensive, check out a maint. service on a Wanderlodge. Yes, they will still be on the road in another 15/20 years because like the GMC they are not sticks & staples built. One of the wannabes here is also a wannabe on the Wonderlodge forum. So I guess it's a matter of how deep are your pockets when it comes to buying a coach. There are a lot of good buys out there right now. I think now is the time to jump in.

Norm,
I was interested in those for a while and they are freaking tanks.
Incredible frames. I also noticed on may of them the Cat 3208 diesels
had been replaced before the 100,000 mark. (Couldve been 3802, it's
been a while.)

I expect that many owners did much the same as myself; I couldn't afford to have one when new and still raise a family of wife and five kids. I retired at 68 and looked for awhile and finally found one that I've been driving and working on for many years. I'm now 83 and have maybe a few good years, but many of us in that category have to sell them due to health or other issues.
One should buy a GMC NOW and have fun with it.

Kudos on the support structure for the GMCs from the list and the usual suspects! Couldn't be a more helpful group of folks.

I'm not retired yet (the kids have two more years of college), but bought myself a fixer-upper so I would have a restoration project to let me unwind from work. It's been a rewarding, if slow-moving project so far. The nice part is that you really get to know all the systems and what needs what service, but I can't get out and enjoy the coach quite yet. As I don't have the time to get away much, that's OK. I figured that I would have a nice, reliable coach by the time I needed it, and would have the knowledge of the coach to take it out on the road (of course along with the Black List and cell #s of the Jims, Miguel, Manny, etc.)!
