When if comes to Harbor Freight power tools, you pretty much get what you pay for. They last about 4 hours or 1 job, whatever comes first. On their grinders, the trigger switches fall apart quick. I would go with a DeWalt, Bosch or Makita if you want it to last. Even if you get a used one. Much more durable.

For the most part, I agree with you.

My $9 angle grinder's switch LINKAGE fell apart. I moved the actual switch to the end of the case. It has worked fine (after my modification) for several years.

BUT...

The "Multifunction Power Tool" seems to be put together much better than most Chicago Electric tools. Mine has about 20 to 30 hours of running time and quite a few projects on it. Works fine. (With no modifications! Rolling Eyes )

As I only paid $19.99 for it, I could buy quite a few before I equaled the price of a "quality" brand.

Would I buy it if I needed it to make a living? --- Probably not.

The HF tool has a short guarantee -- but for $10, two year free replacement, $6 for one year.

HF tools are a gamble. In my experience I've won much more than lost.

I've a superb 120V - 80 amp soft start mini inverter welder, a $49 wet diamond blade tile cutter that's cut a mile of tile, an inexpensive submerged waterfall pump that's run continuously for three years, a 4" grinder that keeps on grinding, etc.

I'm coming up blank with examples of failures, but I know there've been some.

In my experience, if it had a battery, it failed. Otherwise, probably not.
