1976 GMC Royale

Date: 2010-05-12, 12:39PM

Immaculate 26' Class A Motorhome. 119,000 miles. Excellent running condition - travels frequently to Southern Oregon. Good tire tread. Spare wheel and extra tires for front.
Provenance and all receipts for the last number of years.
Twin beds in rear, side bath with shower, 4 burner stove with convection/microwave oven. Catalytic heater, 3-way fridge, roof air, rear hitch tray with tote box, aluminum wheels, air bag suspension.
Beautiful solid maple cabinets, new carpeting. No pets, no smoking.
These classic motorhomes were built to last and were way ahead of their time in design. There were 12,975 in varying models built between 1973 & 1978, and still over 7,000 registered on the road today. The Royale is the 'cream of the crop'.

Interior layout looks more like an Avion layout with the short love seat behind the drivers seat. I've never seen a Royale with this layout.

There were a few Royale's like that. Very few. The cabinets give it away.
I've seen two others with that configuration.

Someone went to a lot of trouble to make it blue trim like they did in 76
unless this was a one-off from the shop. The 'maple' cabinets surely aren't
maple. That would be another oddity.

I just learned two weeks ago that GMC had a few layout like that. IIRC they
did a total of 160 or so.

Early Royale. Coachman hadn't completely settled on the offerings.

Did you notice the refrigerator was next to the door rather than across from it? Quite Avion-ish.
