Have any of you replaced the outside rubber around the windows and then had a heck of a time sliding the one glass panel? I did the small and large rubber on our 3 x 3 window over the galley sink (Royale center kitchen) today and once I got the window closed, had to use a putty knife on the outside to pry it open. I thought I was going to pull the handle right out of the glass.

I hate to use anything silicone on the rubber to free it up. Any suggestions on how to make it slide? That new rubber really seals against the glass!

Thanks,

John

I found that graphite powder lubricant in the channel helps reduce some drag, in fact my windows now feel like they are on rollers..they slide open on a flick.(I have the van style windows). If that does not help then you have a problem with the rubber possibly.

Why don't you want to use anything silicone?

I use silicone spray on my window tracks all the time. It also works well on drawers to help them slide better.
It son't attack the rubber.

Hi Emery,

I didn't want to chance getting any of it anywhere it shouldn't be because it's going in for paint next month. BTDT with a boat a few years back and it was a mess.

Thanks,
John
