Išve run this past the powers that be and have given them fair warning that
I want to assemble an instrumental group to play at the DuQuoin convention
in September. If interested, read on.

Primarily, I'm looking for woodwind and brass players that have played their
instruments recently (have your lip and fingers in shape). If your a string
player, you're welcome to join in but only your fingers are wrists must be
in good shape.

Interested people should send me your contact information, instrument
played, and musical level/capabilities. I'll send the music a month in
advance (so you'll be ready to practice). We'll rehearse in two, brief
sessions.

We'll play one number and accompany two hymns for the worship service. We'll
play two or three other numbers after an ice cream social. The music won't
be that difficult but, it won't be that simple either.

If you know of someone who plays and doesn't read this list, let them know
or contact me with their information.

I'm setting a goal of eight individuals.

If we don't sound good together, we won't play. I don't want to put us into
an embarrassing situation. However, if we do sound great everyone in
attendance will be proud of what we accomplished.

Byron,

Terrific idea!

If you play at the "opening ceremonies" I sure hope you learn Advance
Australia Fair along with the Star Spangled Banner and Oh Canada! ;-)

Good Luck Byron.
You saw how many instruments showed up at GMCMI, Montgomery. Laurie
Burton is good on strings and Erv Troyer plays in a group. There!
I've ratted you guys out to give Bryone a leg up!

Only if it's in FM stereo.

I can play on the grand piano as long as the lid is down and the legs are
sturdy.

On the off-chance that I'll be able to come, I'll bring a smaller F tuba. If you have music written down, I can probably manage it in a couple of rehearsals, though I might have to drive to the next county for a bit of private practice. Much though I wish I could, I don't do improvisation.

Not needed. All wind music outside of British Brass Bands use concert pitch when written in the bass clef. Write it as you would for a piano. It's my responsibility to know which buttons to push when I go to a different pitch instrument.

Smartie. Trying to show off.

Well, I can only play bass cleff baritone, piano or violin. Concert pitch is
my pitch. B-flat isn't C in my book.

On the off-chance that I'll be able to come...

I just added up my vacation time versus my commitments for this year, and I don't think I'll have the time built up. I promised the Redhead to spend a few days touring with her around Idaho after a meeting there in July, and I also promised to take her to a bluegrass festival in the coach the weekend that the International convention starts. It's just not adding up.
