you should not have to remove the wires from the plastic socket.....
just twist the pins on the bridge

Comparing to the "replacements" sitting on my desk, I think you would have to twist ALL FOUR pins to make it work. (I might be wrong though... end of a long shift.)
My eBay cheapo "replacements" have three pins that need twisted to match the Onan. Three of the four pins on the linked one match the untwisted pins of my replacements.
