Nancy and I just returned home from our First real trip. Eight days out and about which included a overnight at Paynes Prairie State Preserve near Gainesville, Fl, four days at West Point Lake, a TVA project maintained by the Corp of Engineers near West Point, Ga and two days at the GMCES Calhoun Rally. Some 1600 miles of absolute enjoyment.

The Rally was just full of great People, conversations, food and information. Placing Faces with names gained here, viewing more Coaches than we have ever seen in one location, having Alex Sirum weigh our Coach made this trip something we will always remember.
Some pictures here; http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=5451

West Point Lake is a beautiful Campground. Words do not do it justice, Dense Forests, clear water, really nice sites. Plenty of shade, Quiet, Deer, wild Turkey (the bird), all kinds of other critters which Nancy loves to feed.

The Coach ran beautifully, not a hint of a problem. Did find that cruising fast in these machines is much like any other. Fuel consumption at 50 - 55 is a reasonable 9 to 11 mpg. On one stretch, from West Point to Calhoun we mostly ran with the Traffic which was 70 to 75mph and this resulted in a little over 6 mpg. Don't think we will be doing much of that in the future.

Already planning our next trip. Just need to get agreement on the timing. Wish me luck.

Thanks to everyone at GMCES.

Glad to hear that you had a safe trip.
When my son graduated with his PHDs from the Univ. of Florida at
Gainesville we drove our GMC there and stayed in the Paynes Prairie
State Preserve. That really is a beautiful place. I don't think that
I have ever seen such large alligators in the wet ditches alongside
the roads in that area though.

Good report. Glad you made it. Thanks for sharing the photos. Happy to know
you had a good time.

Now, how about joining? We need a few more members.

Good luck on the timing.

Yep, speed and mileage are inversely related.
