Can someone explain the role of the over ride spring and pivot on the rear brake shoes.In putting�things back together I discovered�my 77 Kingsley does not have it. Was this�changed or perhaps get lost on someones earlier brake job?

Saw a good looking GMC headed North on I-15 toward Great Falls yesterday. Two bicycles on the back.
