Richard Lister wrote on Fri, 23 April 2010 13:41 | Hi all. Having succesfully traced and fixed my city-water leak (I hope...) I want to replace some of the beaten-up access panels in the wardrobe. Does anyone know of a source for that formica/melamine-covered particle board material (in a '78 Kingsley)?
Cheers

Hi Richard,
I don't know where to find an exact replacement type of material, but I would suggest you use 1/4" oak or similar wood. I retrofit some into my closet after tearing out a portion of the original stuff. I stained it and at 1/4", the wood can be slightly "formed" to the curvature of the closet back.
Hope that helps.

Oops, sorry Richard, I mis-spoke in the last post. I used 1/8" oak plywood-not 1/4"! (Too many cold ones before posting last night.) I glued the backings and used a finish nailer to tie the wood to the backings.
