It may not always seem like it, but I try to be positive in all of my
associations with the GMC community.
Toward this end, please accept my membership to the GMCES (check is in the
mail ;>).

(I only wish it would take PayPal ;>)

I was an early contribuitor ,years ago, when I agreed with the need, and the
start-up, of GMCES. I was concerned when there was a slowdown in the
momentum of the organization, but I must say the current team of officers
have done an excellent job of reviving the GMCES. WELL DONE!

Your publishing and documentation skills are exceptional, and your
communications are without peer in the GMC community. There are 7000 GMC
owners out there that could and should belong to your organization.
At a time where at a time when GMC folks are evaluating what organizations
to join, yours should be the first considered.

If this rally is an example of the future of GMCES, it shows an excellent
technical and non-technical schedual, and a promice of excellent follow up
publication (which is sorely needed from rally presentations),of the topics
covered. WELL DONE!

So, even tho I will never make it to the right coast to a rally, I am really
anxious to support your activities.

thanks
gene

Gene,

I'm sorry I didn't read this email myself any earlier than tonight. I've
been busy with other things. One of those things was grading papers and
communicating with my college students now that we're coming into the last
week of school. The other was being present and fully preparing for or
participating in the events at the Calhoun rally. Please excuse me.

Ken Henderson, however, publicly mentioned your email. Because of that I was
expecting to see your membership application in the mail. I'll be sending
your UserID and Password to the Members Only area shortly.

I'll also take this opportunity to thank you for your kind words and
comments. I'd like to respond to them in a more personal way.

When I agreed to become the newsletter editor at my first rally for GMCES I
know that no one at the rally knew what to expect. They didn't know that I
don't take on a task (volunteer or paid) without giving all of my best to
the effort. I'm not into so-so. They also didn't know of my fervent respect
for and admiration of the GMC's design and continued existence these 30-some
years later.

I recall a few of you guys being quite concerned when I took over the web
site. Again, I realize you didn't know what I was up to -- to make it one of
the better websites dedicated to the GMC and a motorhome club dedicated to
GMC. My objective was to blend the newsletter and website into a cohesive
whole that would be worthy of the coach we love and it's reputation. It'll
never have all the great technical resources that your site has or that of
Billy Massey's but it will look great.

Another reason behind my wanting to take on the newsletter and website was
to help in rebuilding enthusiasm for membership and participation in GMCES.
Yes, it was close to extinction. In fact, I was fully supportive of going in
the direction of putting the horse down rather than see it struggle for
life. Apparently the steps taken to come to an intelligent decision facing
us caused a few to reevaluate the situation and put their shoulders to the
task.

No person has single-handedly revived GMCES. It has taken the collaborative
efforts of several. It will, however, take several others to keep the energy
and enthusiasm alive and vibrant on into the future. With your enthusiastic
support and that of others (whether able to attend a rally or not) will
contribute greatly toward this goal.

Thanks, again, for the positive and encouraging remarks. Thanks for bringing
it to the attention of others.
