With all due respect, what a bunch of maroons-all this BS about Chevy wheels and not one part number.
After reading the thread, I check the local Craigslist and sure enough, "8 lug 16 inch Chevy wheels, 12 in stock". So I drive the 35 miles to Rosenberg, taking a GMC steel wheel with me and guess what I found?
Not one had a similar offset to our wheels and they were like 12 inches wide. There did not appear any way these wheels could fit a GMC. So, thanks, guys, I got suckered in thinking all I needed was a 16", 8 lug Chevy wheel-not so. There must be a specific part number, these wheels all had part numbers, that apply to our coaches. Will someone be kind enough to share that number??............Thanks,

G'day,
After I sent the message below in I perused my GMC - Wheels folder and found
some interesting information.
One message that notes wheel p/n 29587 will fit another message that says
p/n 29587 won't fit.
A message that notes Chevy Dually wheels from the early 1980's will fit.
A message that notes Chevy Dually wheels made up to 1986 will fit.
A message that notes Chevy Dually wheels made up to 1988 will fit.
A message that notes "'86 Chev, 1 ton dually wheels fit the gmc."
A message that notes "Go to a truck junkyard and buy 16 inch dually wheels
for GM trucks made prior to 1982."
A message that notes: "The 16" wheel from GMC Dually pick-ups from the early
80's will fit. There also is a Firestone steel wheel number that will
work."
I have posted pictures of the Firestone 27994 that Tom Phipps sent me a
while back when I started helping Peter find 16" steel wheels for his second
GMC which he intends to sell.

I forgot to mention that my 16" steel wheels came from an early 80's Chevy 1
ton Cube van.
One item to be aware of for those of you in the wetter climates. If the
steel wheels have been run with innertubes, there is a high chance that the
inside surface will have a fair amount of surface rust. One of the wheels I
obtained had a tube installed and the wheel was beyond salvage due to
excessive rust pitting in critical areas. I live in the salt belt.

Matt,
You could consider the $1.00 fee as admittance to an amusement park! ;-)

With all the information and part numbers, it is a shame we don't have
somebody with a contact at one of the national salvage companies that could
put an APB out for wheels matching the description.
When I have gone to the local yards, it is "No we don't have any" (I can see
the truck from here..) or "Go look and see what you find then we will figure
out a price" (No Thank You).
Or there is one local yard where for a 1$us admission fee, you can see if
there is anything there at all. - Nice racket

The only time I paid the buck, I could have made it back if my video camera had been along. There were a group of individuals we refer to as ESL (English as a Second Language) trying to remove engine parts with an adjustable wrench, a pair of rusted slipjoint pliers and a bad screwdriver.
The amusement might just be worth it.
