PLEASE post the solution when one is found. We are considering getting a
different roll out tray.

I made my own from stainless glides with a 150 Lb capacity. On top of the
glides I bolted a diamond plate floor big enough for 2 6V golf car
batterys. Hold downs (were added after the photos were taken) and a long
pin to keep the batterys from making a left turn when the coach makes a
right turn. Very convenient for checking water level and refilling.

Hi All..
I popped for one of Jim K's "Deluxe" Trays...
It works as advertised.. Holds 2 Golf Cart batteries as advertised..
Full travel and all.. But you have to extend the cables.. Small price to pay..
Can check the water in the batteries easily!

Jim, are the tracks stainless, also?
I have an SS pull-out tray from Darren, and his track was not stainless.
It takes an act of Congress to pull it out, after a couple of years use.

Dave, where'd you get the stainless slides, and where did you mount them?
I don't see them in the picture.

I bought them at a local hardware store and they are full extension
models. The were screwed to the compartment floor and the diamond plate
was bolted to the slide portion.

It is SS track and comes with the hold down bracket.
Only need screws to anchor to the floor.

I am not happy with the Ragusa tray as it is very "tippy". With 2 6 volt batteries it is very hard to roll out the tray and keep the batteries from tipping forward to the ground. Jim's sounds a lot better.

There's is no question in my mind that a non-tipping tray on rollers is a
better idea, but I have the Ragusa and I think I have a fix for the tipping.
Maybe more slippery material between the two halves will help with the
sliding. I think my tray can also use some grinding to eliminate
interference between the two castings.

My idea for fixing the tipping is this: add a c-channel to the aft side of
the battery compartment that will capture the tray, not have much impact on
the space for the batteries, and be cheap. I offer the untested idea here
so someone might beat me to it and prove me wrong.

My junk pile included a galvanized boat trailer C-sections and I will set
it all in place, put a battery or two on it and report the results. The
C-channel needs to capture the outboard edge only as the tray doesn't tip
for the first part of the extension process. It can be through-bolted to the
compartment floor. The corners on mine are rounded on only one end, but both
would be better to avoid scoring the battery case. Slipping a split fuel
line section over the exposed edge of the channel might be a good idea too.

Does anyone have a bright idea about thin and slippery material that will
stand up to the weight of batteries? There is some slippery tape (Teflon?)
on one surface now, but it is inadequate. Maybe some Teflon spray is all
that is needed once the surfaces are smooth.

Ken
