If a Carter 4070 fuel pump squeals, is it:

1. dry
2. broken
3. repairable
4. junk
5. both 2 and 3
6.both 2 and 4
7. Other (please specify)

I just got power to this baby and I have not seen it in service before
today. It was a bargain used pump, so I am suspicious and ready to shell out
mucho dineros for a new one if that is necessary.

Thanks,

Ken

My first guess would be impeller bearings, if it has such things.

Ken,

After having run one for 10+ years and the other for 6+, with hardly a
murmur from either, I'd have to vote "4.".

I have never had a problem with one. I am guessing #4.
