Jim,
So you are saying that the 3:42 FD has spider gears like the 3:07? And the 3:21 ratio FD is a totally different animal?
If that is the case, I don't need a picture as I am familiar with the spider gear system, but planetary gears in a FD are really different.

The 3.21 is a 8 bolt case, 3.42 is a 10 bolt case.

Jim, I have a 10 bolt case, and I was told by folks here it is a 3.21.
Manny says the 3.21 doesn't have a vent.
Regarding my FD:
It has a vent
It has a check valve on the LH flange
It has a shaft that is apparently the same as a 3.21 since Manny sent me a shaft for a 3.21 and it fits.
It came off of a 67 Eldo. Tranny was 67AF.
Sooo.... what do I have then?

You got me on this.
Maybe some how there is a special spider gear in the right side that
takes the 3.21 shaft.

Chris:
When you had the cover off all you need to do is divide the teeth on the ring gear by the teeth on the pinion gear . the result is the gear ratio.
