Wouldn't it be nice to have a "Black List" of fixit shops nation wide that
members have had good luck with? And shops to stay away from.

Been discussed before. My opinion and your's, of a "good shop" might vary.

I had this thought before and was told if you were in trouble you could contact someone on the black list to find a shop. Not much help if you look for a local shop for non emerg work.

But the problem comes two fold.
the venders may or may not do all the work, contracting things out to another company. Your vender may be an excellant shop, but the contractor may be sloppy. and if the vender self warrantees his contractors work, more problems may arise in the term. ( been there )

LarC ( Thinking The best thing for emergency work is call the black list, these folks bend backwards to help you out, what a group. )

A lot of life's about opinions but it's a place to start.

I just visited one of the most competent automotive repair places I
have found in a long time. Friedenberg Automotive in Tucson. They
can R&R (or rebuild for that matter) my GMC engine any day. They have
the RV lifts, over the hatch framework, and more than enough skills to
do this well. I was very impressed with my visit with them today.
Finally, a place in Tucson!!

Glenn,

I posted this way back in response to another query, noted the same thing
and was advised that "we all know who the major players are."

I.E. Applied GMC, COOP, Alex Sirum, Ken Frey, Miguel Mendez, Cinnabar, etc.

However, I still think they should all be on this document and would be
happy to edit it if someone can send it to me in a Word .doc format.

Rob,

I agree, more shops could and should be added.

If you (or anyone) is going to work on that list
it might be helpful if it is laid out a bit differently.

When it continues from one page to the next, it is
confusing.

Rob,
As for the major players, we need to keep in mind that, like me, and newer members just on board, are still learning who and where these major, and other players are.

I think this list of repair places is a plus for the traveler, and for a prospective buyer, one more added reason to consider a GMC.

Just my thought.
