Hi all. I'm attempting to compile a comprehensive list of RPO codes used on the GMC MH, which model years they apply to, and a short description. So far, I have all the exterior paint colors, all the interior trim groups/decors and a handful of furniture and cabinetry codes. Would anyone care to contribute?

Also, would anyone care to host this data? Maybe as a MS Excel spreadsheet and as a PDF?

Lastly, I'm confused about two exterior paint colors...Aspen Gold (RPO 558) and Suntan (RPO 595). Does anyone know what decors these were used on and which model years?

Thanks.

8.75 x 16.5 D White-Wall Tire (Front, Rear and Spare)
8.75 x 16.5 D Steel Belt Radial Black-Wall Tire (Front, Rear and Spare)
Water Heater - Electric with Engine Pre-Heat
44.5 Lb LPG Tank (could be UND)
Sliding Galley Area Window w/ Screen (26' only)
AM/FM Stereo Tape Player w/ CB Radio and Antenna (1977-78)
Gun Cabinet - Right Front (1978)
Glass and Spice Rack (1978)
Microwave Oven (1978)

OK here is one from our Blue 74 glacier. We have thermosan and it appears to be factory but is not listed on the build sticker:

Steve,
As the program manager for the Thermasan product, we installed as many or more as aftermarket than as OE. GMC was actually one of the very few that could be ordered as a factory installed option.
I'm not surprised it isn't listed as OE.

Thanks for the hints, men. I'm up to 134 RPOs identified, with all but six defined. Missing definitions are: APQ, APR, BRR, BRS, BRU, LO4.

I've scoured the 78Z parts manual, Service Manuals and suppliments, marketing information, and various websites.

If anyone has any build sheets, invoices or glove box stickers they'd care to scan or photograph, I'd love to see them. Of particular interest to me are Transmodes, all 1978 models, and 1976-77 twin bed/dry bath models (ZEO6852 and ZEO6584).

I think I have enough data to send a first-draft spreadsheet to Billy Massey to post on his website.

I found one of them for you. You have a choice but I suspect the
second one is the one you want for the GMC.

L04 : ENGINE, DIESEL, 4 CYL, 3.0L

L04: GENERATOR, 145 AMP (GM used the word Generator for Alternator)

I just found this on the GMC Trucks site.

APQ FLEET INCENTIVE EQUILON ENTERPRISES (C/H/L/N/U/W-TRK CKGMLPST)

APR SALES INCENTIVE WORK TRUCK 2500

BRR FAMILY CODE BUMPER RR

BRS Assist steps, power-retractable

BRU FAMILY CODE BRAKE RATING RR

L04 ENGINE DIESEL, 4 CYL, 3.0L
L04 ENGINE DIESEL, 6 CYL, 8.2L, DI, L6, OHC, 159KW, 1SUZU

I don't know if any of these apply to the motorhome though.

I also found this site that has 187 pages of RPOs. http://www.montemill.com/Technical/RPO/RPO.pdf

Hmmm - if the thermosan was a Gemini installed item in 73-74, as indicated on Gary's Gemini build sheet, I would not expect it to show up on the GMC glovebox build sticker for those two years.

Any other thoughts on this?

Thanks to all! Yes, RPO stands for "Regular Production Option." There were also SPO codes for "Special Production Options." SPOs were normally used when a customer ordered something that was not normally offered to the general public. A typical example would be special tires on a run of fleet vehicles.

I've found that not all the ordered options for a given vehicle were listed on the glove box stickers...especially things like interior furnishings. This would explain why OEM Thermasans might not have shown up there.

Maybe I can add a little info to glove box stickers and such:

Separate into 2 groups as follows:

1973 & 74.

The glove box sticker will only show content as it left the GMC plant (empty). The Gemini build sheet (Traveler) is needed to show what was added there (interior including Thermosan). This sheet is often found behind furniture (often refrigerator). It also identifies the model for those of you wondering what you have.

1975-78.

Glove box sticker (officially called "service parts identification") shows completed coach now that GMC builds the completed motorhome. GMC Models are now identified on the sticker except for Transmode since they are completed by others.

There are some inconsistencies over time. A few items are added or deleted seemingly with little reason, at least one that we comprehend :^)
