Hi all..
Well I give up. It might ave wrecked my vacation now..
I went to drain the holding tank this evening in preparation to leave Santa Fe tomorrow morning..
The tank will not empty.. we don't use it for any solids.. That is right no poop nothing..
I have had it..
The coach is for sale..
I replaced the waste tank and the gate valve last summer.. So I have no clue what is blocking it.. I will try to back flush it in the morning. But am thinking I am going to turn around and go home!
Apparently I am just not cut out for one of these classics.

Nope its chilly but not freezing!

Standard 3 inch drain.. Gate valve appears to be working...
It has already spoiled a good time. I give up!

Ron,
Get a good night rest and things will be looking better.
Remember it took me 3 times to get my coach to get to the
International Convention.
Sometimes the solids will accumilate at the vave and form a dam. Drive
it around town and slosh the waste around.

Ron, Hang in there. You know I was at that point a few times along the way. Does your drain line have a cap? If not, maybe some critter took up residence in the pipe and is holding back the flow...

I was at this point about 6 months ago. My problem was an engine that did not want to give me any go go, would hesitate if I tried to go over 35mph.
Honestly, I had the match and gas can in the ready.
I knew that the GMC is the best way to travel and from my past experience with the SOB, I was no stranger to problems on the road.
In the long run, taking your room with you is the only way to go, especially if you carry dogs like I do.
Soneone just had a problem with the black tank not draining. There were a couple of people who commented. One was the shaft came loose from the valve blade and never opened. Another was actually empty and they thought it was full.
The black tank and its drainage system is a simple system. If you are on the road, like the one suggestion, drive around a little, it may break loose. We usually use the rest areas for the restrooms when in travel mode. Go enjoy yourself, this problem will turn out to be a small one, a messy one, but a small one. don't be like me and lose your cool, these things are too much fun to give her up.

Here is a tip.
My system monitor showed 2/3 full and did not want
to drain.
I finally sorted out a way to check the gate valve
and drain hose. I poured MILK down the toilet; it
came out the drain hose.
So the tank, valve and hose were fine.
The monitor/gauge needs calibration.

Ron,
Remember the old saying "Go South Young Man, Go South" Well come South to Las Cruces and we'll figure out what's going on and fix it. I've got a place you can park at the Las Cruces Airport with 120 v, water and a place to dump. Won't cost you anything and it's on the way to Tucson.
Put some ice cubes and a little Dawn soap in before you leave Santa Fe, it'll loosen things up.

One of our members went to an SOB, at the last rally, he said he got tired
of the GMC, $100 here $100 there.
Now he is coming back, he said the SOB was $1000 here, $1000 there.....

Amen Gene. Even when our engine "popped", out in Quartzsite this winter, I never gave a thought to buying an "offbrand". There is very little that Teri and I can not do to our coach. Ron, you are working out the bugs. If I am right, you have not really taken your coach on any long trips before now. The problem you describe now is a small thing. I am sure Wednesday you will have it overcome and be ready to roll farther south, as planned. I suspect most of us have been where you are. Life is going to get much better, quick. Call me tomorrow if you need to. I will be around here.

Man,
Do I know that feeling Dan. The single worst job to deal with on an
RV and the whole world decides to drop by while you're working on it.
Sort of like RV starring Robin Williams.
