Hi Jay,
Yes. I don't know the specs. on these lights, but high performance lights
typically draw more current, and it is common for them to be sold with a
relay setup.
Even standard lights could benefit from the higher voltage provided by a
direct connection with larger wire and relay switching, compared with the
longer smaller wire routing and ageing switch and connections etc.

There is an easy solution to this entire lighting problem: Don't drive at night.

granted its expensive, but its a DOT legal upgrade and its a real Xenon HID system, not the simulated bulbs that seem to be so popular but in reality are barely brighter then a stock sealed beam.
Also as far as HID's go $750 for a compleate conversion is not bad at all. I knew a guy who had to replace a unit on his C6 corvette after it sustained some front end damage! that unit was $1,600! the conversion kit sold on that site use oem HID components from Phillips...

I guess the reason I bought them is because they say you Don't need to upgrade the wiring or add relays. I'll have to eventually do some testing to see what the voltage drop is at the stock lamp as compared to these and see what the difference in current draw is. Coach is in storage and work is very busy so it will be a while. If there is a relay kit it shouldn't be too big a deal to install that. It's all about the time to do it now.
