Best laid plans, page six, epilog……….Funny how good hindsight is.
Normally when I go to retrieve a GMC I drive a towed and have room for
all my special GMC tools. This time I was flying in and with the
restrictions on baggage I had to cut way back on tools. A lot of time
was wasted looking for Home Depot, Harbor Freight, Walmart, Ace
Hardware and like that. Maybe I would have been better off to pay for
extra baggage. The other thing is I should have had a look for my
self. Round trip tickets are cheap purchased ahead of time. Go take a
real-time look at everything. As for the tires, they never gave me a
bit of trouble. I have a set of Alcoas and tires ready to go on this
coach once I got it back here. That was why I “ rolled the dice”.
Otherwise I would have had the new owner make arrangements to pick
some up along the way. As for this gas tank problem, this is getting
to be pretty common with the gas we have now and how old our coaches
are getting to be. I am going to start looking for a 20 gallon fuel
bladder that I can roll up and take along. The spark plugs were set at
0.065 which brings me to believe that it has been a long time between
tune-ups. Now to the sixty four thousand dollar question. Why??
Several times the owner tried to get me to put the GMC in storage and
fly home. Not a chance. I was already there and we might as well get
this job done. Just that simple. Besides, I have got some great
stories to tell at the next GMC rally…………Terry

I know you Skinner! Deep down it was a challenge and you would never admit defeat. LOL I've enjoyed your recap and need to get down and see this latest addition.
How many GMC's in the yard now or have you taken to hiding them in the upper pasture where Diane can't see?

Bob and I enjoyed every word of your report, Terry. Thanks for sharing it
with us. I even forwarded it to a friend who has spent his life rebuilding
classic cars thinking he has run into some difficult situations like yours.
It's always good to know you're in good company.

Terry..
Dittos to those who said they enjoyed the saga..
Don't end with the epilog.. You gotta keep us up to date with what you did to fix this stuff..
Ever speak to the last owner after you left?
Probably didn't want to know.. Just hammered the check and slept good!

That reminded me that the po never made contact with me after I drove off either. I gave him the money and that was it. We forgot the ladder and called to see if he would meet us as we were 30 miles away. Nope. I drove up, grabbed the ladder, and left. Funny how a check changes people's personalities, ain't it.

Dan..
I can relate to that.. MY POI "Forgot" to mention a lot of things.. Like the oil pan crushed up etc. Some people can be real a.. h.... when they sell stuff.. I just can't relate to that..
I sold my 06 Grand Cherokee to a fellow before Christmas.. He was shocked that I took it down and washed it throughly and filled the tank. Just seemed like the right thing to do..
He was so surprised he sent me a thank you card!
MY PO could have been a lot more open.. But then I probably would not have bought it..
Live and learn I guess..
BTW.. I have heat.. Very Happy
