Ok, so I, along with many others, suffer from middle aged sag in my motorhome so I had the brilliant idea of taking the door off to see if I could adjust it to better fit the coach. Well, I took it off and didnt do anything to it because of other issues and when I went to put the door back on the coach it fit worse than before!!

It is like the door overhangs the body worse so it wont latch. Any ideas or suggestions with bolting the door to the body or getting the door to fit better?

Also, how do I remove the pins on the flanges because I think the bushings are bad.

Jeff,

may be a bit belated suggestion but don;t take the door off.  Sorry but I just hadta say it.  OK, thats out of the way, there are so many issues having to do with door fitment-- so lets work with what you now have and lets forget the past.

The bushings on the original hinges were plastic and chances are they are now gone.  You need to press out each pin-- one at a time & replace the busings, we have new bronze "oilite" bushings really cheap.

Now iwth that, how does the door fit?  Look at the lower hings bolts on the door frame.  You have 1/4 steel hinge bolted to a thinwall square channel aluminum, unreinforced door frame-- what gives if there is an issue-- exactly!  If there is a crack between the bolts oryou can lift up on the outer edge of the door and there is play in the hinge mounts, you have some welding repair to do.   The mounting of the lower hinge is usually an issue so don;t feel bad, we need to simply deal with that.  break down the door and fix what you see.

OK, all thats a mouthful, are we there with all of that, do you wanna go forward.  let me know status on this checkout.

Jim Bounds

The master has spoken. Nobody know those doors better than Jim Bounds.

I watched him one time recurve a door in the parking lot at the GMC Eastern States rally in Bolling Green.
