Is Clear Ultimate better in terms of storage times before water absorbtion and stratifiction happens compared to lesser refined fuels? Wondering since it is refined to a clear state, if even though it has ethanol, there are less random compounds in there to react with. My chemistry was not my strong point, I understand that in a perfect world HCs and O2 burning give you H2O and CO2, but thats about it. Well ----some people don't even understand where all that water is coming from so at least I get that. Is it worth running the tanks down and putting in some Ultimate and a brief run before storage. Yes I know that 100%full negates water formation in the tanks but in storage place you have to have less than 1/4 tank so that won't happen.

John,

I store Double Trouble for nine months a year with FULL tanks. I fill them
until the fill pipe is full at a Chevron station 2.5 miles from the storage
facility so I know that when I put her to bed there is as little air air in
the tanks as possible.

I have not added Stabil, Seafoam or any other products like that to the gas
but for the past two years I have not had any problems. I will add it when I
store it this year, however.

I was wondering how does the storage facility know how much gas is in the
tanks of your GMC?

For wintering one's boat (onboard fuel tanks)
it is generally recommended that tanks be 90%
full so that warming weather can not possibly
cause enough expansion to effect any overflow
tank from vents into the waters!

Studies have been done that indicate very little
condensation actually occurs inside the tanks.
All bets are off if ethanol-adulterated gas is
in your tanks.

32 ounces of Sta-Bil treats 80 gallons of gas.
There is a "marine" version of Sta-Bil that is
supposed to be designed for use in E10 gasoline.

John,
Are you saying that the yard where you pay for storage requires that the fuel tanks be less then 1/4 full???

That be the case, put the cheapest gas that will fit in the tank.

Might as well leave it as empty as you can manage so you will be able to put in lots of new fuel when you get it out of storage.

The quality of the fuel in the tanks of a stored vehicle never matters.
The alcohol content matters.
Back when motor fuel had lead in it things were different, but the new fuels have lower vapor pressure, so less leaves when you are not using it.
