I remember reading somewhere a list of vehicles posted by a GMCer which has the correct 16 inch steel wheels for use on the GMC coach. Can anyone tell me where I saw this or where I can find it.
My problem is that I wish to register our coach on historic registration ($300 for 3 years) here in South Australia due to the high cost of regular registratin classification as a Heavy vehicle due to 3 axle configuration which is $2800 per year currently.
Historic registration does not allow the use of aluminium wheels so I need to find 16 inch steel wheels which are acceptable due to 16.5 tyres not available in this country.
I propose to contact used outlets (wreckers etc.) in Washington State in the hope of finding the correct wheels once I have the list, I have a contact who ships to South Australia regularly from Seattle.
The last thing I want to do is ship 6/7 wheels all the way to Australia and find out they do not fit.
Just a note I have tried to find wheels in Australia and also enquired to having the originals remachined for 16" rims with no success.
I would appreciate any help in locating these wheels I require.
Thank You

Two or three years ago someone lead us to a wheel manufacturer who could
build wheels of 'most any type for not unreasonable prices. Does anyone
recall the outfit? In Peter's, and perhaps others' case that might be a
good option.

This MIGHT be the one I'm remembering:

"custom steel wheels" will Google up some others.
