Not everyone reads my blog, I don't blame you, so I thought I would post something interesting here about the new engine.
When Miguel test drove the coach he said, "your fan clutch is stuck on". Since I have not driven any other coach I had no clue. It must have been stuck on for at least 2-3 years and I did not know it. Was a small car clutch so not real noisy. I recall when my fuel mileage seemed to have dropped. I checked it and I was getting 6.5 towing the Vibe across Tx. I slowed down and got a little better, but I hate driving 55. I don't really check our mileage but it just seemed like I had to stop for gas more often that trip so I checked it. That was over 2 years ago. Anyway, I had a new clutch and Miguel put it on. Driving the coach, without toad, I was seeing close to 10 mpg when we left Miguel's. I did not notice much less with the Vibe hooked up. I can not give you exacts but I know we are getting much better fuel mileage with this engine and am glad that Miguel noticed the fan was on.
Let me give you the cam specs, while I am at it. I think this is close to stock....gross valve lift-447, intake and exhaust. Duration-.006 @ tappet lift 260. This is a comp cam.
Engine is very responsive and runs really good, of course the Manny Tranny is behind it and we do have the 355 final drive.
We towed the Vib about 200 miles on the 550 mile trip, not hooking up til Quartzsite and unhooking again at Superior.
Just thought this was interesting information and wanted to pass it along. Am certainly glad Miguel heard that clutch.
