I was checking out the NY Times slideshow posting and happened upon this website http://www.safestrustremover.com

I've never heard of it but looking at all the pictures and videos looks to be impressive. Has anyone had experience with this stuff or heard of it?

Check it out and post what you think. I don't have must rust on my GMC but I have tons of tools, parts and other that this would be great on. Also check out the link to their degreaser products, used on the Lincoln tunnel, I've got lots more grease on my Palm Beach than rust.

Here in Michigan, I would fear that the entire structure of the car might be washed away, leaving only some scraps of paint and bondo....

100% Guarantee!!! What could go wrong? Smile

Still, let us know how it turns out. It seems pricey but if it really works..... (I have a lot of stuff with rust).

I've used a product that has similar claims called Evaporust. It works fairly well. In my experience the rust is not "removed" but converted to something that will wash off with a bit of scrubbing. It works fairly fast. However I have tried using white vinegar and it appears to work just as well but takes longer. What takes Evaporust 1 hour will take 24 using white vinegar. The vinegar is significantly cheaper. I have had good results using electrolytic rust removal however the electrolytic process will not reach in to corners or do interior surfaces without a lot of fuss. I believe with all these that a power washer is needed to get the sludge off the part. I will find out for sure as a power washer is on the "get list" for this spring.

I have seen this product demoed at the PIR (Performance Racing Industry) show in Indianapolis. Live and in person it worked as demoed and I have used a very small amount and I found no downside except it takes time to remove the rust. The rust must stay wet continously to make it work that iss why you see the punps and hoses to flow product over the parts for hours.
