Larry, I measured how high I needed to raise my hatch with both the 72 Eldo air cleaner and the GMC and was stunned that the GMC cleaner is lots bigger. Element is 1.5dia. bigger and 1/2" taller. The air horn on the GMC hits the edge of the foor but the caddy won't. Clocked diffrent. Which one did you use? Also, where are you and are you having a good time? Where is your blog? Can't find it anywhere. Are you going back to W. or attending the rally in Tx. first,,,best regards,,,PL

Hey Paul, long to time no hear Smile Smile
I used the cad air cleaner. It is notched out for the AC compressor....but if you are using a different compressor or mounting it differently, then I suppose any air cleaner could work. I'm gonna change to EFI using a original intake and TB from a 76' eldo, then will use an original 76' eldo EFI Air cleaner.
We are now in Sam Houston Jones State park near Lake Charles LA. Parks in LA are great and they accept Golden Age pass, making our stay $8.00/ night! Can't stay at home for that. We are on our way to Harlingen TX for a month stay, then on to Montgomery. After that...it's home. So far, 3000 mi. on the clock, and the only proble has been with a tire that went out of round. (Just knocked on wood Wink) Sorry, don't have a blog.

Find out what was wrong with the camshaft?

Larry,

We had lunch yesterday with old friends who spent 8 years RV full-timing.
They seem to know every good place to eat in the US. When they heard we're
planning to go to Montgomery, they mentioned a restaurant in Lake Charles
which is "must not miss". I don't remember the name & SHE's asleep, but you
can probably learn the name & details from locals. On one night, IIRC
Wednesday, if you arrive before 4:30 PM, they offer crab of all kinds (king,
snow, etc), all you can eat, for a phenomenal price. IIRC it's a casino on
I-210 just before it joins I-10 on the E side of the river.

Hey Ken...Thanks

If Elaine gets up and you find out the name of the place, let me know. Talked to a guy this morning that spoke of...maybe... the same place, but couldn't remember name. This is really a nice park. Water, electric, heated bathrooms with nice showers, and if that isn't enough, free WIFI!! We will stay a couple of days and head south. Highs in the 50's today and down to 30 tonight. GEESE!! Still better than 12" of snow and 0*.

Larry, yes I found out that the cam had way too much duration and wound't idle without about 15-18 degrees of advance. And then only have 12" of vac. Purchaced a cam from comp, I think it might be the same grind you have, don't have my notes with me. Also I notice on the lid of the GMC aircleaner it called for 91 octane fuel. Theres a bunch more info on how to set the idle but I can't read it. Was wondering if anyone has a good foto of this sticker. It also specs the idle at 1600 or 1800 rpms. Thought that was a little odd. P. Leavitt

Ken-
Could you find out if they allow RV parking overnight in the parking lot?
I may go that way to Montgomery.

Larry, Jim, et al,

Here's the web site for L'auberge du Lac resort. It's located on the N.
side of I-210 W. just before the river, according to the map. I didn't see
anything about the crab dinner special nor RV parking, but you can probably
find something more with Google.

Think you will be happy with the Comp Cam. So...you gotta take it apart again for the new cam?....been there. Huge waste of time that the cam maker should somehow compensate you for. That 16-1800 might be cold idle. 91 octane seems a little odd also. Mine runs find on 85-87. I would not pay much attention to what you see on those stickers. Your engine is in a completely different environment and had mods that seperate it from the old eldo it came out of.

The space is yours Larry. But just in case there's someone already
here, we can support two coaches. Lots of neat lore in these here
parts.
