Looking for information on the upcoming Bean Station Rally. Anyone here know where I can get the dates and Fee schedule for it?

We wanted to go to the Brooksville Rally this past week but it was not to be. I am quite concerned with the left airbag and would like to change over to one of the newer systems before we go anywhere else. Just not sure which system to buy.

Go to the Dixielander website. IF you don't have it then go to bdub's and click on Dixielanders.

As to the airbags - I have the less expensive 4 bag, with the hinged
center mount, and love them.

I've forgotten the benefits of the quadrabag system but can't imagine
a reason to upgrade.

Florida? Call Jim B!

You need to contact or join the Dixielanders. It is their rally.
They are a great bunch of people.

I believe John Nicholls is Membership Chairman. His phone number is on the Blacklist. He is in Florida. I do not like posting private phone numbers here so please look on the black list.

Bean Station is a great gathering.

Ken is correct. You need to be a member of the Dixielanders to attend because of limited space and power hookups. It wouldn't be fair to bump a dues paying member in order to accommodate a guest at a club rally.

Correct me if I am wrong but the dues are only $10.00 or $20.00

Its $10. I've been a member for sieven years now and I've been
wanting to get to the Bean Station rally for the last 7 years but
something else was always in the way in that time slot.
Perhaps this year.

Ken,

It isn't the amount of the dues that matters. It is the possibility of bumping a member to allow a guest if all sites are taken.

Bobby Moore told me the same thing when I met him up in Evansville, In. I went home and joined the Dixielanders. It is not the rally but the people. Great folks. Teri and I enjoy being part of the Dixielanders. Bean Station is kinda like icing on the cake. We started going to Bean Station after I retired 3 years ago. You can work on your coach or just visit with friends. There is a bench in the pit area for those who just want to offer expert advice. Great gathering. Great area of the USA to explore also.

I realize that that Jim.

I was just suggesting that people going to Bean Station ought to consider joining the club. The fee is cheap and the Dixielanders are a great bunch of people. My posting was mostly an advertisement for them.

I could not remember how much is was. I thought it was only $10.00. I know the rally is not advertised to non-members due to the limited space but I have never heard of or seen any non-member turned away.

Also who can argue with the rally fee. If barely covers the food and electricity expense.

I have been there the last few years. I only once brought my coach. The rest of the years I stayed with other people or in the motel in town. The motel in town is also very inexpensive.

I go to help other people work on their coaches, associate with a great bunch of people, and to enjoy the scenery. It is a great week or week end. I also learn a lot about GMCs by watching others work on their's.

Ken,

I'm with you there. The first year that we attended we were going to drive by on our way home from an GMCES rally in AL. We called before we left home and were told we should join before attending and why. One check went one way and the second check the other. I haven't had to have work done there but it is fun to help out where needed. We've met some really great friends and it is also a neat place to open the rally season and catch up with folks that you haven't seen since fall.

Hope to see you again there.

Howard,

I guess you know that you've revealed the REAL reason Ken B. loves Bean
Station so much: Every shot of the dessert table contains a prominent N9CV
T-shirt, said call sign known to be registered to a certain WiFi wizard.

Dixielanders being the world's dessert lovin'est folks, he fits right in,
Yankee or not!

Along this train of thought, The Spring issue of the GMC Dixielander Newsletter will have the details on the Bean Station Rally (on the last page). However, the rally dates are the April 29 thru May 2, 2010. You may come a little early and stay a little late.
Dixielander dues are $10 per year, a bargain. Current dues paid members will be also receiving their personal copies of the membership list.
