Dan and Teri:

I don't believe it! That is my Grandmother's sister's grave on your blog.

I see you are a retired Police Officer. Mary worked for the CHP for years and was escorted to her final resting place by about 25 CHP motorcycles.

I bought my GMC last summer and took my 80 year old parents from Michigan to California to visit my brother in Beaumont and Mary's family in Claremont.

Since I was out that way recently, I was following your adventure here and on your blog. Could not believe it when I saw the headstone.

WOW, that is something. I wonder if my cousin's husband knew her. He is a retired CHP and lives in West Covina. Dang Mike, thanks for letting us know. Mary's grandson sent us to the gravesite via geocahcing. This is wild.

Dan:

I'm not sure what CHP office Mary worked out of, but she lived in Ontario so probably the one closest to there. She would have retired quite a few years ago. My Mom said she didn't know if any of Mary's grandson's geocached but apparently Mary's granddaughter, Cherise, does.

Yep, Cherise. We went back and looked at the cache site. What a coincidence. Life to others is closer than we know sometimes. Teri is going to send her a note, Cherise.
Let us know if we can do anything for you while we are here.

Wow! We had dinner with Cherise at the EL Ranchero restaurant in Claremont when out there in August.

I was worried that I was going to have problems like you did on my trip. Other than the 400 mile trip back to Michigan from southern Indiana when I bought the GMC in July, the Cali trip was my first outing. Only problem was a broken alternator belt about 40 miles north of Phoenix and I had a spare.
