Gmcers,
I had a brainstorm so to speak.my batterys just had a horriable death and croked on me.my 6 volt trojons died hard.i have a few rv marine deep cycle group 24 i think.the standard ones they give you.
What i thought id do is hook into of them with the isolater instead of two six volts i have two 12s.if there the same type and date of purchus i think you can run them as if you had two 6 volters.what my problem is i thought i memorized the cable hook ups.i have one hot cable hanging and two grounds?
I also have the jumper between the two house batterys.that goes to the rear positive to jump them?i have the one of the combiner to the positive post on the engine battery and the other to the ground on the regular 12 starting battery.i can ask a couple of friends how to hook them up.i marked the lines and thought i had memorized each cable going to what??
But the genious that i am i forgot to take a picture or something so i could hook them back up correctly.one side of the combiner i hook to the hot side of the starting battery.then grounded the starting battey as normal?does this make any sence or am i talking jibberish as usually

I'm not quite sure of what you're hoping to do, but if I remember correctly, it is not a good idea to hook up two 12 volt batteries in parallel (your two 6 volt Trojans would have been hooked up in series to give you 12 volts). I'd start with just one of the 12 volt deep cycle batteries for the house to be sure that things work well.
Try to check this site, it may help you:

George,
As long as the batteries are under charge or being used (running lights and stuff) there is no real problem in having batteries in parrallel. The problem comes in when you have 2 batteries just sitting not being used or charged. The internal resistance (call that the difference in batteries) causes the batteries to see/saw back and forth discarging slightly themselves. If you allow this to go on for weeks and weeks it will go to discharge the batteries by merely being connected together.
Using an A/B battery switch allows you to break that parallel connection when you are not charging or using the system. You can select 1, the other, both or neither with that switch. This is the best way to combine 2 batteries wether they are twins or different. You could have one on/off switch to isolate 1 battery but having the opportunity to select 1, the other, both or neither battery is a nice feature.
Hope this helps,
Jim Bounds

I seem to remember that there is some problem with two 12 volt betteries, but it will take a better electrical mind than mine to explain it.
