Question,
When not useing or in storage whats the best pressure or psi you want in your airbags?i saw something from Jim in Florida that the oem airbags are maxed out or over the rated psi when set to full or
auto level setting?
I sometimes realease some of the pressure when sitting or level so as to get as much life as possible since i have replaced mine and want them to hold up
Thanks

when ever I am home, the GMC is up on blocks under the bogies with no, or,
low pressure.

the big issue, was the airbags would "HOTDOG" if they were under pressure
all of the time. If the rig is blocked up, it is stable, level, and
anxious to go ;>)

I concur with Gene's suggestion. I built up some blocking material from 4 x 4 timbers, that I place the coach on when it is parked. Then, I let out he air, until the coach is resting on the blocking. Minimal air pressure in the bag. This also keeps the coach's weight from marring the asphalt parking pad.
Additional bonus, working on the coach and knowing that it is not going to drop.

Don,
Double Trouble is stored for 9 months a year over in Humble, Texas. I raise
the airbags to the maximum, put jack stands under frame as close to the rear
bogies as possible then let ALL the air out of the airbags.

Hot doging happens when your overloaded or height is too high.

Most coaches run properly level with about 85 or 90 psi. Light coaches
like mine require less. The bags themselves are rated to 150 psi, and
our pump pressure switches usually cut out at about 120 or 125 psi.
The stock system won't get that high in Travel (Auto) mode. For
leveling at a campsite, keeping a bag at 120 for a couple of days is
no big deal, but with my light coach, I reach full height at about 100
psi or thereabouts.
For storage, I just leave my bags in Travel mode and throw 6x4"
timbers under the bogie frames (so that the 6" dimension is vertical).
The bags will settle down onto those timbers in a few days, and they
will keep the wheels from reaching the wheel wells, which is only a
problem with early coaches. If my system held air so well that it
wouldn't settle, I would lower the coach onto the timbers and drain
the bags. My system does that, um, automatically.

I have a 78 23' birchaven which might be light compared to the 26' coaches. My airbags had schraeder valves in the end as the compressor wasn't working when I bought the coach. Had the compressor rebuilt but haven't connected all the lines, etc., yet. Anyway I run about 60 lbs of air in the bags and that seems to put me at the right level and seems to have good driving characteristics. Anything above that makes the rear end sit very high.

In the past 30 years, I have not found anyone that had any better
handling than using the height shown in the book.
Height is determined not by pressure only.
At our shop we use a stick that goes from the ground to the bottom o
the frame at the locations shown. It takes too much time to measure
from the slot, plus you cannot locate the slot on the rear left as the
generator covers the hole.

Jim,
On my first time at a GMCMI Convention I won a tool to measure the height of the GMC using the frame slots. I don't know who made it but I suspect Bob Drews. It is a small wood base with a hole drilled in the center and a piece of old TV antenna tube about 14 inches long stuck in it. There are two strips of tape about 3/16 inches wide around the antenna tube. One is for measuring the front and one for the back of the coach using the slots. The width of the tape is exactly the tolerance given in the book. You are right about not being able to find the slot on the generator side so I put a mark on the tube that shows the bottom of the frame on the passenger's side with the tolerance marked there. Every time I come back from a trip I check for the correct ride height. My garage floor is concrete so it makes a good base point. Usually it is OK, but occasionally one
or more is off a little so I make the modification.
Easy to make and use. I will bring it to Montgomery for the GMCMEI and if anyone want to see it, come over to my camp site.

What are the dimensions of your blocks? Looking mainly for the height that you lower your Coach to.
