Interesting. How do they keep track of what's supposed to be in
each vehicle? Seems like a big job. I'd guess most smog check
technicians have never seen a GMC motorhome, and rarely a vehicle from the 70's.
Is there some master checklist? Just curious.

thanks,
Karen (considering moving to a different state so I can have a '77 GMC...)

on that note: do you have to have your primary residence in the state
you register in? In western Oklahoma you can buy land (or even a
house) for very little, no smog test here.. actually no inspection at
all.

To the best of my knowledge, unless you are military,
states will require that you register your vehicles
in your state of residence within 30 - 90 days of
purchase.

David,
A lot of folks do what I did. My coach originally sold in AZ, then
spent a lot of it's life in CA. No way that thing would ever pass CA
smog. The PO kept the AZ registration. so when I registered it, I
put it in my name, and that of a friend that lived in Kalispel, MT and
I have lived happily ever after. Actually, CA law requires that the
vehicle (out of state military exempt) be registered where it is
primarily used IIRC.
