Any one looking for one, these seem fairly cheap. (Woot are one day only, or until sold out.) Good for checking the GMC forum. (GMC content)

my acer1 has been just outstanding for almost a year now. When on the road
the netbook does everything I want to do so I never take my large laptop
any more.

It boots fast, has excellent wifi, 3 usb ports, ext monitor , 11 hour
battery---- just does it all

so go figure ;>)

Mine too!

Continues to be very reliable.

I got the larger (6 cell) battery version.

Also, happy with a number of purchases from Woot.com

One important note on the Aspire One. They had a problem with the BIOS
that prevented it from charging the battery if the battery was fully
drained. I thought the six-cell battery I bought for mine was dead
until I made that discovery. Downloading and flashing a new BIOS
solved the problem, and both batteries are working as they should. I
get five hours out of the six-cell battery. I use it for meetings
where I need to have a computer to read reports people in the meeting
have sent out, but when I don't want to carry my briefcase. I just
spent four days at the Transportation Research Board conference in
Washington, and this thing means no separation of my shoulder joints
as is usually the case when I drag around my full briefcase and Big
Honking Laptop to all the meetings I have to attend.

Rick,

Thank you for that information, I'll check the bios version/date when I get it in the mail. I have several applications in mind for it. Most are for the wife's Audi but for the GMC, I am thinking of a GPS system.

Here's the article on the Acer support site:

http://netbooks-us.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/82

Note that it's only a problem with a couple of models, but these were
by far the most popular models. Costco was selling them as well as
other large retailers, and that's probably how Woot ended up with an
overstock supply to sell.
