Gene,

We were trying to jump over the Winniebago with the GMC. Had to get a good
running bounce to make it.
Fortunately we had no damage and only a few pieces of cardboard fall. Did
lose power for about 4 hours though - a first for us up here, never lost
power before. Others weren't so lucky. Lots of broken glass, windows store
shelves, etc. Will know better on structural damage done in the area when the
sun comes up.
Nice little free ride, better than the carnival.
When are you guys leaving for Q -site?

I have been told that now is a good time to buy land in Nevada for it may be ocean front soon.

Friday we are heading to thePhilippines for 10 weeks we will be about 250 miles north and west of the Mayon volcano which has been burping for a couple of weeks now.

Hey, what time did that happen?
We "heard" something up here about 3.30-3.40.
I thought a cat had knocked something down but didn't find a thing.
I'm wondering if we heard your quqke.

Just saw a news report on the quake. Unless it took eleven hours for the wave to reach use, it must have been the wife.
Shocked

250 miles north and west of Mayon would put you really close to Pinatubo. (And north of another one, Taal.) I haven't heard anything "volcanic" happening there, but you never know!

Good luck and wish I could go with you....

Steve,

I took this off net as I don't know if it is true or not and I didn't want
to upset Dennis & Pia Lepard.

I covered The Philippines for Hamilton Standard out of Hong Kong in 1991 and
I heard that the Philippine government wanted the USA to clean up the mess
at Clark before we handed it back to them! AFAIK we did not.

Regards,
Rob

Well, "Harry", it's not as bad as me swapping my girl friend's envelope with

Pia's home town is Bani which is between Alaminos and Bolinao and six hours by bus from Manila.
Clark from what I have heard was stripped by the Filipino people long before it turned into Clark Field Airport. My wife's brother was Filipino Military Special Police and he said after the Air Force left Clark the kindly citizens removed everything that would move.

Pinatubo is about is about 150 KM as the crow flies south of us. When we go to Manila during the day we go by an area that is filled with volcanic ash. You travel over a new bridge and look down about 50 ft and see the old bridge partly buried. Also they have a lot of hollow block plants built along there and they use the ash to make hollow block.

Being retired Military I am going to start looking into Military space A. I am now getting EMails from the Retired Activities Office in Baguio about military flights out of Clark to Guam a couple of times a week. It may be something to look into for the future trips. Do a little pond jumping to the states.

If there was a bridge going there it would be a good trip for the coach. LOL
