I know there are a lot of pilots and aircraft enthusiasts on the forum.

Thought that maybe some one might be interested in this item for sale on Craigslist.

That is 3 phase. Not for home use. Besides if you ck you maintaince
manual for small aircraft gas welding is the only thing authorized. Of
course if you have an A&P license and you can get an AI to sign it off
you can do it any ol' way you want to.<G> I can tell you some really
good stories about Alaska and small aircraft............Terry

I don't know anything about welders or welding.

I posted this for someone who might be interested.

And I was also hoping for someone to chime on this thread to explain what makes this an 'aircraft' welder as opposed to a standard welder.

And I was also hoping for someone to chime on this thread to explain what makes this an 'aircraft' welder as opposed to a standard welder.

Larry,

This type of welder was used extensively in the 1960s and 70s in the construction industry and in factory maintenance. If I remember its a Lincoln welder and is just a DC current stick welder. In my world we called them peanut welders. They are a good welder easily moved on its wheels.

Larry,

As originally sold, it had a foot pedal control and different
control to match
and designed for tig welding. I have the exact same welder in
the standard
configuration. I was going to convert mine until a Lincoln
engineer told me
that it couldn't be used as a stick welder after conversion. Oh
well!

Ahh, yes. sigh.

I've learned a great deal from posting this thread.

And now I have a better understanding regarding why some contributors to this forum are no longer involved.

No, what the deal is is that it is raining cats and dogs out there,
it's a couple more weeks before I can go south and pick up that 23',
and all the projects in here are not interesting to me. So you didn't
like my Rosie joke??...........Terry
