It's been suggested by some knowledgeable folks that anyone considering
solar get the monitor first, and keep an eye on it to get a better idea
of what you're actually using, so you have a better idea of how much
solar and battery you need. Jay said solar panels are a possibility
(when funding is available), so I think it's a good idea to do it that
way. You can keep track of what you're using and know when you've
drawing your batteries down to your comfort level.

It doesn't take a large amount of dry camping to suck your batteries down
below a safe level.
As others have said, "Don't ask me how I know."
