Sometime when time and budget allow, and other, higher-priority things get done, I'm planning some solar panels. I've been convinced by Handy Bob and other experienced voices that a good battery monitor is essential, and I'm thinking I might benefit from doing the monitor sooner rather than later, that is, before I get the solar panel.

I'm looking at the TriMetric 2020 and the Xantrex linkLITE models. Any experience and advice on comparing the two? Any tips or gotchas to be aware of?

I am going to say so things here that may not be popular. My first question
is WHY! Are you going to do large amounts of Dry camping off the grid, and
there are some of you that do and that is great? If yes and you do have a
solar panel setup then yes it makes sense to have a battery monitor attached
to your system to manage it. But if your a GMC motorhome user that is
plugged into shore power each night when you stop and dry camp rarely then
neither solar panels or monitoring equipment is a need to have for your
coach. IMHO spend the money on something else that more fits your usage and
needs of your coach. I will now get off soapbox and duck!!!!!

As a comment I do like the features of the Xantrex better that the 2020 and
it does cost somewhat more.

Once again, I must echo what John said. Don't unless you will use it. Teri and I do and we love dry camping. I installed the Trimetric 2020 a couple years back and I love it. Gives me everything I seem to need. We run 4 6 volts and have 300 watts on the roof. strategically placed.
