Something that was apparently lacking when I was posted to Boca Raton, FL
from Taiwan.
When I applied for a driver's license I was told I had an oustanding
traffic violation to settle before they could issue one. The violation
occured in Tampa on a date when my passport could verify I was overseas
(I had never been in Tampa in my life at that time)
The official response was I had to travel to Tampa and see a judge to set
a date for a hearing, then go back to Tampa for the hearing, show the
judge my passport and get the violation set aside. It would involve two
250-300 mile round trips, and two nites in hotels. The ticket cost was
$25. I paid it.
I'm sure today I could settle it without a couple of clicks.
