DEMING -- An older couple driving west from Livingston, Texas, found an extra rider when they stopped in Deming on Monday.

The couple told Deming Police they had stopped at rest areas in Fort Stockton and Ozona, Texas, and at each noticed a man walking in the area. They thought nothing of it.

When they stopped at Deming's Big Kmart, however, they noticed the man again.

This time he was riding in the mini-van they were towing behind their recreational vehicle.

Police arrested Omar Miller, 20, no address listed, charging him with breaking and entering.

Oh I love it. Teri and I were there Monday afternoon, K-Mart in Deming. Glad the guy got in their van and not our Vibe. Come to think of it, he could not have fit in our Vibe. Teri packs it tight.

a 500 miles range, two drivers, he could be back there freezing for a LONG time.

And maybe after seven or eight hours driving through the coldest prts of the country you could stand in the back window holding a steaming cup of coffee and a sandwich......

But he's trapped in your toad at 60 MPH. When you get tired of torturing him you can pull up behind a police car.

Hmm, so let me see, the guy BREAKS into the van and "I'M torturing HIM?" I
can understand that, it's my fault, I shouldn't be towing the van as that
way he wouldn't have been tempted to BREAK into the van!

He did not break into the your van. He opened the unlocked door of your van and sat down waiting for you to return. Instead you kidnapped him and took him somewhere he may or may not have wanted to go. It is all your fault.

There is more truth in what he said than not!
The justice system here is supposed to be fair but is seems to lean toward the other guy.

I'm SURE we need to get the ACLU involved here. I'm sure his rights were violated by being "taken" where he didn't want to go. Kidnapping perhaps or just general Civil Rights violations

How can we get back to "Justice delayed is justice denied." and more
consideration for the victim than the perpetrator? Close all the law
schools? Fire all the judges and replace them with "real people"? Lots of
other ideas, none of which are going to happen. :-(

Ken, right on. That is one of the biggest reasons I retired at 52. There was absolutely no common sense applied in the courts anymore.
Most police do their jobs well. Gets to court and everything we have ever known is thrown out the window. The guy is let go on his own recognisance and jumps into another rver's van to escape the county and proceedings.
Glad I am no longer seeing this every day.

Fun as this sounds, it's not too far fetched. That's how Wackenhut
got started. Now they are huge! Large $$$ involved. When I was in
the Police Academy, once a month Wackenhut tested on the nextdoor
facility. Man, I have to say that for every position they had 50
applicants and most of 'em looked like they belonged on the other side
of the bars.
I haven't seen any GMCs used for transporting prisoners yet, I guess
it's only a matter of time.
