It's probably a Holden. or an Opel Model. they sell Chevy Badged Opels in Mexico and Central and South America.
This thing is probably much smaller than you think. probably similar to the Aveo.
If you look at the international GM websites, you see all sorts of stuff. Too bad we are not getting the Holden Ute as a Pontiac G8. They also said since Pontiac is dead, it is not a given that we'd see it as a Chevy El-camino. More than likely not.

Chris,
Here's the Holden Colorado:
http://www.holden.com.au/vehicles/Colorado
They all seem to be dual cabs.
The Pontiac GTO was a Holden Monaro rebadged but I see it has been
discontinued.

Ken,
Nope! I was blown away by the number of pickups in the USA especially in
Houston.
Here the UTE is the "pickup truck" that private owners drive. The pickups
you do see are usually "tradees" such as plumbers, electricians, etc.
Due to the price of petrol ($1.20 AUD/liter or $4.20 US/Gal) the pickups
here are not the V-8 powered monsters like in the USA they are much smaller.
The biggest gas engine in the Colorado is a 3.6 liter V-6 and the Ford
Ranger has a 2.9 liter inline four.
You do see the odd big Ford pickup as the F-100 was sold here back in the
1980's.
A friend of mine imported one of the big F-150 Harley-Davidson badged
trucks, IIRC he told me it cost him over $100 grand (AUD) to get it here and
registered.

Rob,
When we visited New Zealand and Australia I was struck by the relative
scarcity of pickup trucks compared to the US. Especially in NZ,
trailers towed behind passenger cars seemed far more popular than
pickups. Is that still the case or has the PU plague spread down
under now?

Rob,
My new Extended Cab Colorado should be here Sat. I ordered it two
months ago. This will probably be the second, and last year you can
get one of these. How about a Colorado with a 300hp small block in
it? Can't wait.

Yeah, I like the Monaro/GTO. Nice cars. They didn't sell well here because they resembled a Chevy Cavalier too closely even though they are light years apart.
They are a great "sleeper" car.

I'm pretty happy with my 2001 Explorer Sport trac. The OHC 4L V6 at 210 HP is plenty. It just turned 100K two days ago.
I can beat a Toyota four runner across the intersection when I am towing my boat...

Well, It's been a while since I've been with GM already, and even when I left, they were tearing up product portfolios daily, so you never know what could happen in the future. I think the Tornado, might actually be built in Brazil, but it's what was called an Opel Mono-cab in product planning, and is very small, probably close to an Aveo is about right, but a different platform as Aveo's come out of Daewoo, and the Monocab was on an "S" Opel platform. It got researched a number of times when I was still with them, and it always did incredibly awful in the states. There may be a lot of people riding around in big trucks that don't need them, but it's harder to tell them to drive small ones than you might think when gas is $1.50/gallon. It's inched up to $2.50, lately but still way cheap by world standards, and probably will stay that way for a while, as politicians would rather pass stupid CAFE and CO2 laws for manufacturers then have the guts to pass gas taxes for consumers which is what changes behavior. So, I would not expect to see it here anytime soon.
On the G8 Sport truck, the research on that was even worse, less than 10,000/ year volume. Chevy turned it down while I was there, and GMC wanted to turn it down, but was over-ruled, as Bob Lutz was in love with the thing. Finally, the discussion of too many nameplates, too few sales as they approached bankruptcy did it in, even though most if not all the work for U.S. sales was complete by then, so that one probably won't be making it here either.
And last, but not least, for Steve, the V8 Colorado and Canyon's really drive nice, the powertrain totally transforms the vehicle from the 4 and 5 cylinder version, smoother, quieter and way fun, but probably no better mileage than a fullsize truck. They did some interior enhancements that help a little back in '08 and put Stabilitrac and larger wheels and brakes on in '09, so other than NVH (which the V8 helps a lot) and so, so interior, not bad trucks.
Just a few thoughts,
Craig

That is the Chevy Colorado / GMC Canyon / Isuzu I-260. They are made in Shreveport, LA and Thailand. If you look farther on the referenced web site you will see that all 3 cab styles (regular, Extended and crew) are offered by Holden.
The big difference with the Asian ones is the diesel which is not offered in the US. The diesel is only manufactured in Thailand.
GM has announced that they will shut down Shreveport and cease US production of this line (called the 355) in 2012.
The Hummer H3 is also built in Shreveport on the same chassis with the same engines. China has bought the H3 and China announced termination of the manufacturing agreement with Shreveport at the end of 2010. No one knows what will happen to the Thailand facility and the Colorado / Canyon / I-260 because it is owned by Isuzu not GM.

Very interesting Craig. Thanks.
I tried to find an '09 within 1,000 miles of where I live but could
only locate a V8 crew cab in Houston. I don't need or like the crew
cab and like the extended cab because of the seating room up front.
I've done a lot of reading on the 5.3 V8 and it's a pretty sweet
powerplant. The truck has a 6,000 lb towing capacity which will fit
my needs perfectly. With the 3,70 gears, that thing ought to make it
across an intersection ahead of most of the tuners.
