Rich,
Don't toss them out, someone will want them. Very hard to find.

Guess I'd better pull those 4 out of the scrap pile then. Sure
getting tired of hauling them to flea markets though. :-)

Has anyone mounted longer blades on the original arms or made any other useful modifications to them?

Don,
I don't know if you read my short rant of 08 December, but I have been through this with a couple of vehicles now.
Today, there are basically two blade mounts on common wiper arms, a hook and a pin. If one could successfully graft either to an original arm, that would solve a whole lot of problems. I did attempt this with an imported vehicle and found no satisfactory solution and gave up. The arms are subject to higher loads than one might normally assume (frozen down blades are a killer), and the reversing fatigue load is another issue all together.
I recently gave a collection of arms and blades away and was glad that they found a home.

Peter, I have one set of OEM arms and will have another as soon as I convert the '78. I am also a little closer than Florida and could drop them off next summer... if you are willing to wait that long. If you are interested in them contact me... off line if possible. 971 five-seven-zero 6831

If you are scrapping out the origionals remember to salvage the knurled adapter, they are hard to come by!
The only useful modification I made to the originals was to turn them into a toyota via the recycle bin...
