Since I was sick for most of this year, I figured I'd take a trip.
Just me and a dog. After the Pismo Beach thing the week before
Thanksgiving with the GMC and buggy, the wife flew home and left me
with her dog (my dog was left home). I took off from Manteca, CA and
headed to Santa Clarita, CA to visit Dave, a fellow that is building a
buggy and needed a gas tank which I had brought along. I left there
and headed to Tucson, AZ and visited with a buggy fellow named
AzBullit. Had a blast bouncing around the desert for a day. Left there
and did some motorhome things for a week in the Tucson area, This
included hanging around with Steve and Nancy Ferguson (and Missy and
Max), going for rides in ALL of their great cars (can you say 55 Chevy
with a 4-speed), and attending the Sagurao Jetsetter Tucson rally
(that was FUN). Stayed in Las Cruces, NM last night at the Las Cruces
Airport where Hal Karding has his business. A fellow GMCer with 5
planes, one of which is a WWII fighter jet. Flies at 500mph and use
300gals/hour of jet fuel (holds almost 900gals). Beautiful, and sure
wish I could have fit in it. Not to mention the Buskirk Stretch in the
hanger. Just beautiful. Now the GMC, the Turista, the Dog, and I are
outside of Fort Stockton, TX. for the night in a rest area
(http://map.datastormusers.com/user1.cfm?user=5449). On to San Antonio
tomorrow. I'm headed to Florida if possible. Might just make it to
Mississippi, Georgia, and Alabama at the least. Hope to be back for
Quartzsite, but who knows...
