Hello Gary&Wilda-

The kindness and generosity of the GMC community keeps amazing me. Meeting Michael was a Godsend, I am still overwhelmed with all of this.

I cannot even begin to tell you how touched by your support, we are. When Michael told me of his deeds, all I could do is cry. I had no idea. I knew that the GMC community was close, but the sense of family, is one I did not expect. Thank you.

My GMC is a 73, model unknown. It has been repainted and updated. While the upholstery and carpet have been updated, the interior is in its original state, minus the vacuum system and the exhaust hood.

As far as running order, my issues are mostly mechanical. After 7 months and all my savings, I got about 15 miles, and had to be towed here. The guy really did a number on me. He replaced the carburetor with another less functional one, removed the diode from the alternator, and left the fuel pump off when replacing the motor, as well as the aftermarket ignition system. The wiring he messed up, caused a conflict with the coach system, and fried my converter and a couple of light fixtures. I got those replaced already, and am in the process of deciding if I should go ahead with trying to figure out the wiring, or simply get another harness and start over. Looking at all that is messed up in there, I am thankful we weren't on the road, or we probably would have burned up.

So at this point, I need a new carb, fuel pump, battery isolator, possibly a power steering pump(won't know until we get moving again), tires (I am still on 16.5 rims) and a muffler or two (at least one is blown)
Interior components, which are fluff at this time, if I can't drive, then these things are waiting. I need another stove/oven (my stove top works, oven does not), 4K Onan generator (mine makes a clunk clunk sound when it turns over, and doesn't start), and furnace (ours is 37 years old, and sounds like a cricket is trapped inside). Super fluff would be new closet and side bath doors, bathroom light fixtures or just the chrome like bezels and covers and push button switch (the lights work, but the switch keeps burning out, and the 1 cover I have won't stay on, as the bezels are cracked and barely hold the fixtures on the wall), and if I got a new dining table, I wouldn't turn it down, as the top is lifting on the one we have.

This is the complete wish list of things, I think. Looking at it makes it seem like we are in bad shape, but its better than it sounds.

I look forward to hearing from you and thanking you in person when you journey through.

Hi Dana, We will be in route to Santa Clara,CA from El Paso,TX in early January. We will be coming thru Needles coming & going, so if you can let us know
what parts you need for your GMC to udate it and get it running, we will be picking up from GMCers in route that have & will donate these parts to get you up & going. Jeff in Silver City,NM has some interior items seats, tables ect, George in Madera, Ca has 7 tires & rims that we will pickup on return trip. So,if you
can help us out with the items you might need,we can coordinate with other GMCers on route & get you those parts & more..

Looking forward to meeting you & the children.
