I am curious as to who all may be coming to Quartzsite this coming January. I know 2 clubs, 49ers and Western States, are having gatherings. 49ers will be dry camping just south of Rice Ranch. WS will be in Rice Ranch with elec. and water. We are within walking distance of each other and to all of the booths in town. Teri and I plan to arrive on the 13th. We will stay with 49ers until Sunday or Monday and then head south 5 miles. 49ers gathering will start about the 15th. There is a week long hamfest 5 miles south of Quartzsite, on 95. It starts on the 17th. I think Western States begin around the 21st but I am not positive. The main tent opens on the 15th or 16th. They had some real bargains last year on the opening day. Don't miss that. I am hoping Teri will let me stay through the big car show on the 30th. There are fees for the two GMC gatherings. No fees for the hamfest.
Should someone be coming for the first time, and not familiar with the area, let me know. I will give you my cell number so you may call and I will come find you.
Teri and I hope to see a lot of yall there. We had a lot of GMCs there last year. I have talked with several who plan to come for the first time this January. This will be our second trip out there. Plenty of room. Dump and water can be had if you pay the Feds 40 bux for 2 weeks. It is worth it.

Dan,
The GMC Pacific Cruisers, GMC Saguaro Jet Set, and some associates
will be there at Rice Ranch. Pretty much across the road from the Big
tent to the west, and the BusNuts to the North. I don't think there
is a Western States gathering planned.

I'll try to come for a day-visit. Although I belong to no club, I would like to see what a rally is like. Sounds like a blast. When I meet one person and start talking GMCs it pretty much eats up the day. Meet 100 and I might better plan on staying a few.

Anyway, will be a bunch of us out there so come on if you can.

I wanna come. Status of my coach depending. It's really coming along, need to do the tranny though, still sitting in the crate since I'm still dickin' around with the Eldo differential. Maybe I'll get a keg of beer and invite the locals for a "work session."

I will be out in Duncan in 3-4 weeks. If you don't get that tranny in before then I will drive over and help you with it. You won't have an excuse then. It is one of the most fun times I have had in the GMC, hanging out in Quartzsite. Lots of great GMC folks out there. Just an 1800 mile drive for me to get there. Worth every mile.

Hey Dan & Teri :)

GMCSJ will be parking at the former Rice Ranch North site with the bus
groups. The rally flyer is on our website: http://gmcsj.com Barb
and I will be taking our GMC Bus over around the 18th and my son will
be bringing our GMC Motorhome over the 22nd (we hope). It's looking
like there will be around 150 converted buses there! I know a lot of
the GMC Motorhome folk don't like dry camping, but as you mentioned,
black tank pumping and fresh water delivery is readily available and
for $5 a night we'll be parked as close as those paying the big bucks
for hookups to the Big Tent and most of the central activities :)

See ya there!!!!

I went through Quartzsite last night (heading east (I'm in Tucson now
for a couple of buggy days)), and I couldn't find or see where this
free camping is located. Where does one pull off into the desert? What
offramp do you take, and then which road do you go down? I'll be back
for the 49er rally on the 15 of Jan, so need some directions.

I have a date with a router and a cabinet edge.
_______________________________________________________

The have this nice router bit with a bearing on it. The bearing runs along the cabinet edge and the bit cuts the edge. when done it should look perfect.

I used a router wanna be tool with the bit and it worked very well for me.

Good luck.

I used one of those with the bearing. It went well, however, the cheap hardwood split, so I didn't get the nice edge on one. That's what trim is for... Rolling Eyes
