I saw it (I think) in Radio Shack one day sale for $99.00, but didn't have the money to plunk down. Sounds real good.

Dan: I have a somewhat older Tom Tom 1 XL and the zoom feature only holds for 8 seconds then reverts back to the original. I would imagine the feature is similar on yours. The zoom is automatic when you approach an intersection, and I think all they did was allow you to do it manually. So both manual and automatic have an automatic return to "normal" after a short time period.
I have a new TT 340 XL s on the UPS truck to arrive sometime today. I will report on the zoom feature on it, later in the day.
For some reason, my older TT 1 became erratic in operation, and the maps are somewhat out of date. New maps are almost as expensive as a new unit, which I picked up for $100 at compusa pre black friday sale. I see Best Buy has them for $120 this week.

One amazing thing about the GPS business model. The updated maps cost very close to the price of a new one. Consumer model; buy discounted new one and put old one on Craig's List.

Thanks Rob and Tom. I have been working on this for 4 days with a tech from TomTom. This morning I get a note that says it will not stay zoomed out. I figured as much but they should train their techs a little better. I was glad that they will actually help one out though. I guess I expect too much from a cheap unit. It just can not compare to my Lowrance, whiuch is almost 4 years old now. I will just throw it in the bug glove box and use it there. I need a better unit in the GMC. I love the altitude readout and the large speed numbers on the Lowrance. The maps are out dated but I really dont care. Most roads are there. I got this one from same place you are getting your new one, Rob. Yes, let me know what you find out. I will look it over good when Teri and I get to your place.
