I would be inclined to replace the mid axle brake with a disk for the simple reason that the drums are not well adjusted - well - you know what I mean. The self adjusters almost never get actuated so they are not adjusting for wear. Since the mid axle does the vast majority of the rear braking, that would be my preference, and the disk would reduce fading on long downhill pulls that my gears won't handle on their own. Then I could use the rear axle drum as my parking brake.
Now all I need is some spare time and a lot of spare cash!
Of course if you don't drive these coaches like they are Corvette's and leave plenty of room to slow down, maintain the systems, etc., then you'll do just fine. Disks are a fine way to gild the lily. I like my lilies gilded!

Larry,
as many rear brakes as we service, we see about the same amount of
ware on the center and the rear. We have tested by taking the
temperature of the drums front and back and find very slight
diffferance.
Self adjusters work well if your doing it right and backing up and
applying the brakes hard.
I say that all 4 rear wheels have the same braking . Only on really
hard braking will the back ones grab and the rear shoes not wear.
That is why I feel that running a drum in the bach rear is not very
productive. We have people wrking on a more effective parking brake
and hope to release it by Spring Convention..
