It turns out a lot more front end parts on the GMC I am parting out are compatable with my revcon.
Hubs, knuckles, CV joints etc were moslty replaced 15 years and 7000 miles ago. The coach rusted badly do to its proximity to the atlantic ocean.
Assuming these parts are not rotted through (it's been too muddy to really examine them)
And assuming they were properly lubed in the beginning, what should I be concerned about if I decide to use them on the Revcon or keep them as spares?

Dave,
We do around 6-8 front end per month here and can tell you that all
the rubber parts are shot on all of them.
If you re use an old one, you'll need to replace them later again.
On my 78 my guys are upset as I will not change the fromt end parts.
They see how bad they are , but I find that with the Q Bag at the back
and the 2" spacers on the front, it goes down the road just like it
should with an Onamental driver.
In this case changing the driver is esential. Grace always comments
about my driving. When she drives, she does better and als speeds and
I need to ask her to slow down.

Jim is right, at this time in the life of these coaches, bout every front end we jack up needs everything. I fear owners might be thinking we are trying to do more than is needed but really in most cases it's the simple truth. Every time I give in and try to keep the price down by not doing bushing, it always falls back on me when the driver says the coach is still not driving well. Now they really feel weird about it, I should have gone ahead and broke the news the first time-- it only hurts the pocket once if I had done it all up front. I have 2 coaches now that are in that situation.
Always the first thing is to make the suspension as good as it can be before you start in on the performance enhansements. What good is it even if the coach rides better to have all the fancy stuff if the basic parts are worn out.
Hey, my coach needs stuff done, "the plumbers pipes always leak" I hang on because I know what I need-- I should go ahead and fix it though. Don't do what I do...

Our office person threatened to spank me if I do not get my coach in
line and fix it.
However, she changed her mind as she was afraid that I might enjoy it too much.

Dave,
I realize I am demonstrating an acute grasp on the obvious I would remove
the parts, disassemble and inspect them using the applicable GMC Maintenance
Manual sections as reference. You can also do a search on the photo site for
the particular part and see what you can learn there. There's lots of
information on Gene Fishers and Billy Masseys' websites also.

OK, maybe it was a dumb question, or perhaps poorly phrased or maybe I just have no idea what's going on down there.
I assume everything rubber is junk. But that still leaves a lot of machined parts once coated with grease.
Can I tell ny visual examination whether or not the CV joints are any good?
If the mileage is accurate and the rust didn't get to them, will the age be a factor?
Thanks

Dave,
No matter which parts you use to replace worn parts on your Revcon,
you will still have to rebuild them It is probably just as easy to
rebuild what is on the coach as it is to rebuild a spare set and have
them standing by as replacements.
Take a close look at the Revcon lowers. A lot of them are square
steel, not reenforced Toro/Eldo ones. Interchangeability would be a
question if they are not the same.
